CAMBRIDGE – “A Breath of Fresh Air” outdoor
family program to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be held this
Saturday, August 14, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Deerassic Park Education Center.
The event is produced by the Southeast Ohio Hunt For A Cure and Deerassic Park.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Participants are encouraged to dress creatively in
camouflage for the “Camouflage Ball.”
Gates open at 2:30 p.m. All ages are welcome.
Activities begin with outdoor programming for families from 3 to 5 p.m. which
includes a visit to the live deer herd to learn about the whitetail deer;
history of the whitetail in Ohio with hands-on opportunities; a field game;
exploring a creek; an archery range; horse-drawn wagon rides; kite flying, and
others. Hay wagons will transport participants between learning stations.
A silent auction will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. A
barbecue style dinner will be served at 5 p.m., with a live auction beginning at
5:30 p.m. and raffles throughout the evening. Children will be entertained by
local storyteller and author Bob Welsh with his “campfire stories” during
the live auction.
The evening will close with a family concert by Adam
Calvert for the Camouflage Ball, featuring prizes for the best outfits. The
event will be held rain or shine.
Cystic Fibrosis is a debilitating disease that leads
to chronic and eventually fatal lung infections, and affects more than 30,000
children and young adults in the United States. There is currently no cure.
However, money raised will help support treatment for more than 400 patients at
the Cystic Fibrosis Treatment Center at Children’s Hospital, Columbus.
Tickets for “A Breath of Fresh Air” are $15 per
person, $25 per couple, or $40 per family, and includes parking, programming,
dinner, and entertainment. Advance ticket purchase is suggested. Tickets are
