CAMBRIDGE
– The Deerassic Park Education Center announces funding available from The
Outside Is In Education Fund to school districts and non-profit organizations
for educational programs offered by the park.
The
fund was created to help supplement the costs of programs so they are of little
or no cost to schools depending on financial need. Proceeds were raised from the
Deerassic Classic Giveaway, the annual fundraiser for the non-profit National
Whitetail Deer Education Foundation. The NWDEF supports Deerassic Park.
Two
education programs are currently available.
“The
Whitetail’s Journey” is presented in the classroom and captures Ohio’s
history through the eyes of its state animal, the whitetail deer. It includes
hands-on activities, interactive participation, and a short video.
“The
Outside Is In” is a field trip program highlighting outdoor learning stations
at the park. It includes a visit to the whitetail deer herd, interpretive nature
hikes, and a field game, among other activities.
Both
programs are designed to help meet State Academic Content Standards for the 4th
and 5th grades, and are adaptable to grade levels 1-6.
Deerassic
Park is located on US 22 east of I-77 near Cambridge in Guernsey County.
For information about the education programs, please contact Program Director Toni Kellar, 740-435-3335, or tonikellar@deerassic.com, or see www.deerassic.com.
