NEWSRACK
Summer 2003 Volume 2
Greetings Members of the N.W.D.E.F. Old & New!
Everyone is up to their ears in preparations for August 23rd, the Deerassic Classic Giveaway, so please forgive us for this very short and direct newsletter, but we know everyone is wondering how things are going with the raffle, so well just give you a little update...
Im really happy to say the Deerassic Classic Giveaway is shaping up to be a HUGE SUCCESS!!! In early July, ticket sales surpassed a break-even point and the event was confirmed. However, breaking even does not build Museums, so with no holds barred our sales campaign has been relentless. 170 Ticket Agents in 6 states have pulled us to within approx. 1,500 of our goal of 10,000 tickets sold! These 1,500 unsold tickets represent a good percentage of our profit, and we know the importance of selling them all.
Everyone is working hard and believes they will all be sold. But here is where you, our membership can help.
You believe in this cause and the N.W.D.E.F., your purchasing a membership is proof of that. You all want to see this Museum and Educational Park completed and we all know this will take the efforts of all of us to get the job done. If you (each member) could talk with a friend, a neighbor, a relative or even a perfect stranger to get at least one more ticket sold, we would be sold out and free to work on the grounds and event itself! Selling these last 1,500 tickets will be helpful in other ways besides the obvious $150,000.00. This will bring another couple thousand people to the event. With approx. a quarter million dollars more of side raffle merchandise.
These extra attendees will bring the potential for much more profit the day of the event.
So please help out. Just a phone call or two or even buy another ticket and bring your wife, brother-in-law, etc. How about an early Christmas or Birthday present? We need your help, you can do it!
For Tickets Call (740) 435-3335

Volunteers
Lately weve had a lot of folks calling to volunteer, either for the
event or for preparation the week prior to the raffle. But we could still use more
volunteers. Many people will be seeing the grounds for the first time, and we want to make
a good impression! There is a general workday planned for the Saturday before the event
(Aug. 16th). For anyone wanting to help, please call our office at (740) 435-3335 and let
us know youll be there to lend a hand.
Thanks!
Tim Higgins

another in their back pocket if they wish!

Board News
Summer 2003, the Board of Directors of the National Whitetail Deer Education Foundation is proud to announce a new Board Member, Mr. Joseph Detweiler of Hartville, Ohio. J.J., Owner of J.J. Detweiler Land and Cattle Company, is a guy that has already in the short time he has been with us shown us that he likes to get things done.
With J.J., it is not a question of whether we can do it or not, just where is the best place to get started. This Board can always use more Board Members like J.J. Thanks Joe for joining our forces. And thanks to all other Board Members, Officers, all of our Sponsors, Volunteers, Ticket Agents, Supporters, and everyone out there doing their part.
We would also like to offer a very special thank you to Shane Skinner of Barnesville, Ohio. Shane has been working with us on the raffle from the beginning. His efforts and leadership have been a huge factor in our success.
And finally, Jody Cowan. The friendly voice on the phone when you call
our office. Jody has been on call 24/7. From taking orders, answering questions, giving
directions, logging the ticket purchases, and a lot of trouble shooting. She has literally
done the work of 2 full time secretaries! She certainly deserves our appreciation. Jody,
we couldnt have done this without
you. Thank you so much!!
