CAMBRIDGE – The Deerassic Park Education Center, which is supported by the non-profit National Whitetail Deer Education Foundation, announces an open archery demonstration, free to the public, Thursday, August 4, 2005 at Dunning Motor Saless, Inc. of Cambridge.

In conjunction with The Deerassic Classic, Joella Bates will do an archery demonstration and motivation talk for area youth and their parents. Joella is a full time hunting professional and five-time world archery champion with a Masters Degree in Wildlife Biology. Most recently she was inducted into the Outdoor Channel’s Circle of Honor for her personal achievements, contributions toward the perpetuation of our outdoor heritage, and her passion for sharing archery and hunting with others. She has conducted seminars all over the United States, sharing some of her shooting and hunting secrets.

Joella began bowhunting in 1989 and has since taken over 100 animals and over 45 species (subspecies) with a bow. She has shot archery professionally since 1994 and is the first woman to take an Asian Water Buffalo, and an African Cape Buffalo with only a bow.

Joella has a love for both kids and archery and presents enthusiastic programs dedicated to introducing kids to the sport. Encouraging youth to dream and set goals is a personal commitment. She then shows them ways to promote their own self-esteem through archery, as she did, ultimately allowing them to accomplish what they want out of life.
